Who is eligible?
Classroom teachers currently teaching in grades 9-12 full-time at a public or non-public school in Illinois.
The minimum teaching requirement requires that a candidate must be actively teaching in a full-time teaching position today and must have completed no fewer than four years of teaching prior to this school year.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate – in their teaching and results – significant, positive impact on their students' growth and learning.
What do award recipients receive?
Induction into the esteemed Golden Apple Academy of Educators
A paid spring quarter sabbatical at Northwestern University in Evanston (recipients may take as many courses as they wish in any subjects they choose)
A $5,000 cash award
