In 2026, we will celebrate 4th–8th grade teachers who go above and beyond—now it’s your turn to say thank you and to recognize those who impact their schools and communities. Complete the form below to nominate a 4th-8th teacher for the 2026 Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching

2025-2026: 4th-8th, 2026-2027: PreK-3rd, 2027-2028: 9th-12th

Your nominee will receive an email on October 3, 2025 with program details, along with the link to apply to be considered for our 2026 Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching. For questions, please contact Nellie Quintana.

Who is eligible?

  • Classroom teachers currently teaching in grades 9-12 full-time at a public or non-public school in Illinois.

  • The minimum teaching requirement requires that a candidate must be actively teaching in a full-time teaching position today and must have completed no fewer than four years of teaching prior to this school year.

  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate – in their teaching and results – significant, positive impact on their students' growth and learning.

What do award recipients receive?

  • Induction into the esteemed Golden Apple Academy of Educators

  • A paid spring quarter sabbatical at Northwestern University in Evanston (recipients may take as many courses as they wish in any subjects they choose)

  • A $5,000 cash award
