Adjusting to online learning is challenging in this new COVID-19 world. It’s especially challenging now because nearly everyone is a newbie to the practice of virtual education. We’re learning as we go and it’s hard. It’s ok to take a deep breath and acknowledge that teaching and learning will have to adapt to our new circumstances and give yourself time to settle into this new normal.

Prevailing guidance from online learning experts is clear: do not try to replicate the classroom learning experience.  Take heart in knowing that, just like in the classroom, student engagement is the name of the game! In this world, shifting some of the “control” over to students will do wonders for increasing their engagement with the content. And helping students to connect and collaborate through project work and use of appropriate technology is important not only for improving engagement but also to avoid isolation.

Master teachers from Golden Apple have curated a robust list of online learning tools and resources for teachers, students and parents who are tasked with continuing education from home while schools remain closed.

In light of this shift, master teachers from Golden Apple have curated a robust list of online learning tools and resources for teachers, students and parents who are tasked with continuing education from home while schools remain closed. The tools range from virtual support groups (well, Facebook groups of folks who are all in the same boat) to resources that will assist with creating online curriculum and lesson plans to popular apps for math and science games. All of these resources allow for students to direct their learning and contribute to planning their learning time, as well as to connect and collaborate.

We’ve also included a few resources to help talk with students about COVID-19; what it is and practices that can help keep them and their families safe.

Highlights of some fave tools on the list:

Check back often as this list will continue to be updated and refreshed each day.
